If you're searching for a barn wedding venue or a manor house with grounds, let me introduce you to something different that I think you'll love...
Trading Boundaries is like no other venue, and it gives you wedding photographs that look like nobody else's.
If you're looking for a Trading Boundaries wedding photographer, choosing someone who already knows the venue can make a real difference to how relaxed and natural your Trading Boundaries wedding photos feel on the day.
As a recommended supplier at Trading Boundaries, I know the venue well, from the gardens and the marquee to the way a wedding day here actually flows.
Between booking and your wedding I plan the photography of your day carefully, including a planning meeting around two months before, so that on the day itself you can simply relax and enjoy it. No need to think about the photography on the day - I've got it all in hand.
A wedding at Trading Boundaries is something genuinely different. The Coach House, a Grade II listed Georgian coaching inn, sits in the Sussex countryside at Sheffield Green, in the Ashdown Forest area near Fletching and Haywards Heath.
The interiors are full of Indian influence, with a big elephant statue greeting you at the front of the venue, all blended with elegant English style.
One of the best things about getting married here is the variety. The lawns at the back of the venue, the terrace, the colourful interiors and the quieter garden corners are all extremely close by, so there's plenty to work with without taking you far from your guests.
Whether you're planning an Indian or Asian wedding or a traditional English celebration, my candid, documentary wedding photography at Trading Boundaries gives you relaxed portraits in the best spots, group photos that take less time, and the most from the light whatever the season or weather.
ANGEL + ARYAN
“He brought such calm, positive energy to the day and made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera.”
"Every photo is filled with emotion and genuinely takes us back to the moment. Andy and Jack captured things we didn’t even realise were happening, and the result is a stunning collection of memories we’ll treasure for the rest of our lives. We cannot thank him enough!"
Trading Boundaries sits in quiet, green countryside at Sheffield Green. It feels wonderfully rural, and the courtyard, gardens and lawns are all close together, so guests never have far to wander.
The Grade II listed Coach House at the heart of the venue gives it a real sense of history, and the open countryside around it means plenty of space and beautiful natural light.
The marquee at Trading Boundaries is permanently in place, and far nicer than any marquee you'll have seen before. It's beautifully decorated inside, with double-skinned walls and no open sides, so it's perfect whatever the weather.
On a dry day, ceremonies can also take place outside on the lawns to the rear of the venue, with gorgeous views of the countryside setting.
The venue is fully licensed for ceremonies, so you can marry and celebrate in the same place.
The grounds are a big part of the appeal at Trading Boundaries, and they're brilliant for photographs.
The courtyard, the vine-covered Indian arbour and the rustic doors nearby all make beautiful backdrops. Walk through the arbour together, lit by fairy lights, and you'll have some of the most memorable photographs of the day.
Trading Boundaries has a relaxed, welcoming feel that sets it apart from more formal Sussex venues.
Nothing about it feels stiff or formal. A historic Coach House, Indian-inspired interiors and plenty of space to move around make it feel more like a celebration with friends than a formal event.
That relaxed feel carries through to the photographs. Couples feel at ease, guests loosen up, the laughter comes easily, and I can capture the day as it really happens.
Trading Boundaries offers something genuinely different in Sussex: a venue with real character, where the day flows naturally between indoor and outdoor spaces.
In the evening, the sunken dance floor takes over, with a brilliant sound system and lighting, and the party is a joy to photograph.
From garden drinks to the marquee and the evening party, there is always somewhere new to photograph, so your gallery never feels repetitive.
For couples searching for a wedding venue in East Sussex, Trading Boundaries is in a category of its own. It's a venue with a personality, and that comes through in every photograph.
Colourful interiors give portraits and details real depth, while natural light and countryside views make the grounds a joy to photograph.
The Indian-inspired decor gives every room something different to work with, so there's always another frame waiting around the corner.
Trading Boundaries is set in the East Sussex countryside at Sheffield Green, near Fletching, Wych Cross and Forest Row, with Uckfield and East Grinstead also nearby.
Despite its rural feel, it's an easy journey from the surrounding Sussex towns, making it a good choice for couples with guests travelling from further afield. (See the full travel details below.)
Sheffield Green, East Sussex (TN22 3RB), near Fletching, with Uckfield, East Grinstead and the Ashdown Forest nearby.
The nearest train stations are Haywards Heath (on the London Victoria line), and Uckfield (connects to London Bridge) Both are around 15 minutes drive from the venue.
Eight luxury boutique bedrooms on site, including a honeymoon suite, set around the Indian courtyard, plus four two-bedroom cottages.
There is ample parking on site for your guests. Approx. 40 minutes from Gatwick, 35 from East Grinstead, 20 from Lewes.
From small, intimate gatherings, to larger celebrations of up to 180 guests.
The permanent marquee, the vine-covered arbour, or outside on the lawns to the rear of the venue on a dry day.
If it's raining, the marquee is the perfect place for group photographs indoors.
The fabric walls and ceiling let in soft, beautiful light, so everyone looks their best, and with no open sides nobody gets wet.
A short walk from the main celebration brings you to quieter corners of the gardens, perfect for a few minutes away from everyone.
This is where couples relax, stop thinking about the camera and simply enjoy being together, and those are the moments that produce the most natural photographs of the day.
If you're a little camera-shy, this is where I'd start. It's private and relaxed, and you're never away from your guests for long.
The vine-covered arbour is made for portraits. Walk through it together and the leaves and fairy lights frame you beautifully.
The courtyard and the rustic doors close by give you a rustic, textured backdrop too.
The lawns give you plenty of room for drinks receptions and group photographs, with guests spilling out to enjoy the sunshine.
The light moves beautifully across the lawns through the afternoon, which makes them a lovely place to photograph the day as it unfolds.
Inside, Trading Boundaries is full of colour and character, with Indian-inspired decor throughout, which gives portraits and details real depth.
The rich textures and bright interiors make a brilliant backdrop for relaxed portraits, and they work whatever the weather is doing outside.
They are also a fun place to wander with the person you've just married, which is when the most natural photographs happen.
The elephant statues are one of the things that make Trading Boundaries so memorable, from the big one that greets you at the front of the venue to the small ones dotted around the interiors.
They bring colour and humour to portraits, and they make a lovely detail shot that tells a little of a couple's story.
They are also a great spot for relaxed, playful photographs with your guests.
In the evening, the party moves to the sunken dance floor inside the Coach House, with its brilliant sound system and lighting.
Tables and chairs sit around it at the upper level, looking down onto the dance floor, so guests can relax and watch the celebrations unfold.
I shoot from both levels, down on the dance floor where the action is and up above looking down, so you get every angle of the party.
One of the best things about a Trading Boundaries wedding is the variety available within a short walk. There's genuinely no need to leave your guests for long to create something beautiful.
Here are some of the best spots for gorgeous wedding photographs...
Angel and Aryan married at Trading Boundaries in Sheffield Green in September surrounded by their family and friends.
The day began with a laid-back morning, relaxed and full of laughter, with plenty of time to enjoy the build-up before the ceremony.
Angel had a first look with her dad and brother, a quiet, emotional moment before the day properly began.
Their ceremony took place in the marquee, with soft natural light and everyone close enough to feel part of it. The rings were hidden under two guests' seats, and those guests brought them up when it was time to exchange them.
Afterwards the celebration spilled outside for the drinks reception. There was a food truck, cake and a sweet table too, then pizza and chips in the evening.
Angel and Aryan chose Trading Boundaries for its elephants and its relaxed outdoor feel, and they wanted natural photographs with no awkward posing. That's how I photographed their day.
Then came the speeches, plenty of laughter and a packed dance floor.
It was a day full of colour, personality and genuine emotion, and a wedding I loved being part of.
Trading Boundaries wedding photos from a real wedding
Trading Boundaries is fully licensed for ceremonies, which take place in the marquee, the vine-covered arbour or outside on the lawns on a dry day.
For the bedrooms and cottages on site, see the Key Details above.
Seating numbers for the marquee ceremony, the wedding breakfast and the evening reception depend on your layout, so it's worth checking the details with the venue.
Once you know your numbers, we'll plan your group photographs together so they take the least possible time away from your guests.
Around 30 minutes for couple portraits is usually ideal at Trading Boundaries, though it works best split into two shorter sessions rather than one long block.
The first is straight after your ceremony, in the window before your wedding breakfast, when we might head to the courtyard, the arbour or one of the quieter garden corners. The second is later on, once the wedding breakfast and speeches are done, which is a natural, relaxed moment for a quick session in the softer light.
With so many colourful corners to explore, it's tempting to wander. Having a clear plan means we get real variety without ever taking you away from your guests for longer than we need to.
The best timing for confetti at Trading Boundaries depends a little on the day, so it's worth talking it through in advance and picking what suits you. The terrace outside the venue works brilliantly for it.
One lovely option is confetti as you walk back up the aisle after an outdoor ceremony - it's full of energy, your guests are already gathered, and it captures the excitement of the moment you've just said "I do". The one thing to plan for is a moment afterwards to check your hair, dress and suit are confetti-free before the group photographs.
The other option is to do group photographs first, then gather everyone for confetti afterwards. That way you look your best for the group shots, and the confetti happens at a more natural point in the day. It just means asking guests to regroup once after the photos are done.
It's always worth checking the venue's current confetti policy before you buy, especially for outdoor use. Done well, confetti photographs are some of the most joyful, energetic images of the entire day - absolutely worth planning properly.
As a recommended supplier at Trading Boundaries, there are always a few things worth knowing before you plan: the best spots for photographs, timings that help everything flow, and the practical details couples ask about.
Here are some recommendations for getting the most from your Trading Boundaries wedding photography.
When the weather's kind, guests naturally drift out onto the lawns and terrace during the drinks reception.
It's where the atmosphere truly starts to build. People relax, drinks flow, and those brilliant candid moments - the hugs, the laughter, the in-between expressions - happen completely naturally without anyone needing to be directed.
It's also worth keeping in mind when planning your timeline... this golden period between ceremony and wedding breakfast is one of the richest for natural, documentary-style photography.
One of the most consistent things that makes a big difference on a wedding day is building in a few quiet 10-minute pockets of time here and there, once the ceremony is done.
If the day is running to schedule, those few minutes give you and your partner a genuine moment together to take it all in, rather than the whole day passing in a blur. If something's running a little behind, that same buffer absorbs it without anyone feeling rushed.
The weddings that feel most relaxed and natural in photographs aren't the ones with the tightest timelines... they're the ones with a little space built in.
Couples often worry about rain, and honestly, at Trading Boundaries it's one of the last things to stress about.
The marquee keeps the ceremony going whatever the weather, and the colourful interiors make a brilliant backdrop for portraits.
The key is to stay relaxed and flexible, taking advantage of even short dry spells to step outside, so that whatever the weather, you still have photographs that feel natural, beautiful and genuinely yours.

Then Andy is your man."

There's no stiff posing, just natural photographs of the two of you being yourselves.
