I’ve been lucky enough to work with Cath. She has a an absolutely beautiful range of dresses as well as jewellery and gifts in her bridal boutique.
I interviewed Cath about her business, favourite memories and thoughts on her time in the wedding industry. Here’s what she had to say…
What’s your style?
‘Cath Adam @ The Bride Shop’ is a family run, friendly bridal boutique with stunning, excellent quality dresses at very reasonable prices.
We stock Kenneth Winston, Ella Rosa and have our own Cath Adam collection. We stock sizes from 4-32 in the boutique.
I’m (Cath) a silversmith by trade and work one day a week in my workshop making couples wedding rings, fitting perfectly around the most unusual shaped engagement rings as well as beautiful handmade bridesmaid/best man gifts.
We also sell diamanté hair accessories and belts and have the most stunning veils too. We want every girl who walks through our door to relax and enjoy their time with us.
We love what we do and to find that beautiful dress for that special day is one of the best feelings.
What would be the most important piece of advice you would give a couple?
To relax and enjoy the planning, it's about the two of you and it's easy to loose sight of that with all the additional organising.
What are the most popular requests and current trends for next year?
Sleeves and pockets are very popular at the moment when it comes to the dress. Aerial footage with a drones adds a whole new dimension to your videography of the day.
Do you have a favourite review?
I can't choose a favourite particular one however, when the girl admits to being nervous or anxious before coming in to see us and writes how we made her feel relaxed immediately in her review, that makes me smile.
What do you love about the wedding business?
It's a happy time and I love being part of that.
What is your personal favourite touch you have seen at a wedding?
My friends Andy and George got married in Sitges in Spain. Andy had been having secret singing lessons for 6 months before the wedding and sang George Michael's Amazing, there was not a dry eye to be seen.
Memories of a favourite wedding?
A beautiful boho wedding held in a barn on a little farm with multi coloured ribbons tied to the trees. After the vows the bridal party had to wait for a duck and her tiny ducklings to cross the path before going over to the barn to the beautiful table setting!
What is your favourite celebrity wedding?
I'm not blown away with the celebrity wedding scene, I find sometimes it can be too pretentious and all for show. If I had to choose a favourite one, I would say Katie Perry and Russell Brand when they quietly got married in a Hindu ceremony in India, low key and extremely pretty.
Tell us about your favourite wedding traditions that you’ve come across
I was asked to make three little solid silver letters on a silver chain to be wrapped around the bride's bouquet. The letters represented family members who had sadly passed.
