Kent Wedding Venues

Kent is a fantastic place to get married, so to make your life a little easier, here are the ones that I consider to be the best with links to their websites.

Whether you’re looking for a luxury or intimate wedding venue, a castle or a barn, Kent has so many incredible venues that I’m sure you’ll find one that you love here.

Here are the castles in Kent first - arguably, the best county in the South East to find one!

If you don't fancy a castle feel free to skip to the other venues.

A castle wedding venue in Kent…

Hever Castle: Once the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, this country estate actually has three amazing venues.

  • Hever Castle - In the winter months the Castle Inner Hall and Castle Dining Room are available to hire for wedding ceremonies and receptions. Decor includes all of the things you’d expect at this stunning venue: ornate panelling and carved columns, an impressive minstrel’s gallery, a fine collection of antique furniture, original paintings and a magnificent working fireplace for a roaring log fire.

  • The Astor Wing - With more of a country house atmosphere, the oak panelled Tudor Suite Sitting Room, overlooking the Castle and formal lawns, provides the perfect ambience for an intimate ceremony for up to 60 guests. Reception drinks are taken in The Music Room, or, weather permitting, on the Tudor Suite Terrace overlooking the croquet lawn and moat.

  • The Italian Garden - For the summer months, this beautiful garden was designed to display William Waldorf Astor's collection of Italianate sculpture, and includes the Rose Garden which showcases over 4000 different species of plants. Outdoor wedding ceremonies can take place under the arched columns of the Italian Loggia over the lake. This element of the wedding is often extended to accommodate a drinks reception.

Leeds Castle: A 12th-century Norman castle with moat, surrounded by 500 acres of parkland and gardens. There are several options for your wedding…

  • The Castle Dining Room - Civil ceremony capacity of 100. A light and airy room is enhanced by a long French window.

  • The Castle Library - Drinks reception capacity of 100. Mingle here with your guests after the ceremony.

  • The Castle Banqueting Hall - The largest room in Leeds Castle. Amazing views of the estate over the moat. Will typically host the wedding breakfast and the evening reception. Capacity of 100 for your wedding breakfast, and 150 for your evening reception.

  • The Castle Drawing Rooms - Relax in the Castle's Drawing Rooms, and then dance the night away in the Banqueting Hall.

  • The Maiden’s Tower - Adjacent to the main castle, a self-contained venue ideal for ceremonies and receptions with up to 80 guests. It even has five bedrooms for you or your guests. You could just use this venue for the ceremony before continuing on for a larger reception party in Fairfax Hall.

  • Fairfax Hall - An atmospheric 18th-century timber-framed barn is ideal for a formal reception or evening party. Formal reception capacity of 100, evening reception of 200.

Chiddingstone Castle: Unlike Hever or Leeds Castles, there’s no moat. However, this is a stunning venue which can be exclusively yours for the day with the castle and grounds closed to the public. It’s set on the edge of the Tudor village of Chiddingstone, with an ancient parish nearby if you’d prefer a church service. Fancy signing the register at their 17th Century oak refectory table beneath a stained glass window? It’s doable here! No corkage policy, which is unusual. A choice of separate areas in the grounds are licensed for your ceremony…

  • The Orangery - Perfect for summer weddings. Award winning.

  • The Great Hall - All seasons weddings

  • The White Rose Drawing Room - All seasons weddings

  • Marquee - Available to be erected if required

Other wedding venues in Kent

  • Salomons Estate: This is a stylish Victorian mansion set in 36 acres of gardens, woodland and parkland. One of the best features here is their south facing terrace, overlooking the gardens, with a capacity of 140 for your ceremony. Three rooms are available depending on the size of your wedding party - the Drawing Room (seats 100), the Victorian Science Theatre (capacity 230), and the elegant Gold Room for smaller ceremonies (capacity up to 60). Each room here has different styles of decor, which I love.

  • The Secret Garden: This charming venue is a bit different to the others, and that’s why I like it! A family run business with a variety of spaces for your wedding. Choose from the gazebo in the gardens, the chapel, or the Glasshouse (perfect for smaller weddings). Make sure to check out the lovely wild flower gardens, Shepard’s hut to the cobbled courtyards, the old archways and the clock tower - great backdrops for your photos.

  • Eastwell Manor: A stunning 11th century Manor House, and former royal residence, set in 3000 acres of countryside - the most amazing setting. The manor is set at the end of a lovely tree-lined driveway, with landscaped gardens surrounding it. This is a striking venue and is, in my opinion, one of the best in the South East. They have four wedding spaces - the beautiful gazebo, and three oak panelled reception rooms. They have award winning menus with locally sourced produce.

  • Mount Ephraim Country House and Gardens: A family owned stately home with a personal touch, set in 10 acres of Edwardian gardens. The incredible sweeping staircase that leads to the main hall really is something - perfect for amazing photos of you. There’s an impressive staircase in the gardens too. Options here are ceremonies for up to 100 in the main house or gardens, wedding breakfast for up to 100 in the dining room, and up to 175 guests for your evening celebrations.

  • Bradbourne House: A tasteful 17th century Tudor house set in 20 acres of parkland complete with lake, waterfall and lovely gardens. The decor in the house makes for a perfect setting. Four lovely options here include the Great Hall that opens out onto the lawn, the Drawing Room with its impressive bay windows, the Hatton Fruit Garden (a secret garden of sorts) as an option for your ceremony, and the grand steps outside of the Great hall in the summer months. A beautiful venue.

  • Westerham Golf Club: It goes without saying that there are quite a few golf clubs hosting weddings. However, Westerham is absolutely one of the best venues for weddings, regularly shortlisted in the Kent wedding awards. The golf aspect might be a bonus for you, or can be completely ignored! They have a new civil ceremony suite with views across the lake, and the Valence Suite for your reception with high ceilings and lots of natural light. There’s also a large balcony overlooking the lakes and fountains on the course.

  • Penshurst Place: This venue oozes history! Once used as a hunting lodge by Henry VIII, before being passed on to Anne of Cleves. Although a grand setting, it manages to capture the feeling of an intimate Manor House wedding. Choose from the Baron’s Hall with an original chestnut roof and original gothic windows, the Sunderland Room with access to the Minstrel’s Gallery. Whether it’s just the two of you or a larger party, this venue is full of character features. Wedding breakfast and Reception capacity of up to 136, and a maximum of 200 at your ceremony.

  • Port Lympne Wild Animal Park and Mansion: If you’re an animal lover this could be the perfect place for you. A wildlife safari and conservation park, it’s home to over 700 endangered animals. The mansion has a range of licensed spaces to choose from for your wedding ceremony, breakfast and evening reception including outdoor terraces and beautiful rooms indoors. Choose from Bear Lodge, the Moroccan Courtyard, the Spencer Roberts Room, Giraffe Cottage, or the Aspinal Suite.

  • Bore Place: An eco sustainable Jacobean Manor House, and a large barn, on a private 500 acre organic estate. Here, you get exclusive use of the organic farm and estate for 48 hours, giving you the time to relax with family and friends before and after your wedding. The house specifically has a large drawing room that can be set up for ceremonies or drinks receptions with doors opening on to the lovely gardens. And, there also a 17th century barn, The Hide for your outdoor ceremony in the gardens, and a choice of separate characterful accommodation. The lovely gardens have several options for great photos.

  • Knowle Country House: Set in 14 acres of orchards and old English garden, Knowle has a relaxed, welcoming feel. Built in the 1850’s the house was frequented by Dickens amongst others. One of Kent’s most popular and historically interesting wedding venues. They have inside and outside spaces for your day and a maximum capacity of 98 in the daytime and 170 in the evening. A deceptively large venue with a lovely setting on the lawn for your ceremony if you’d prefer it to be outside.
