Megan & Nathan’s Rustic Summer Wedding at Southlands Barn

If you love the idea of a relaxed, rustic barn wedding with countryside all around you, this one’s for you.

Megan and Nathan’s summer wedding at Southlands Barn was full of fun and laughter from start to finish.

I’ve photographed lots of weddings here, and there’s always something new to love. On this day, it was views of the South Downs, a lake for portraits, Highland cattle and a dress with a secret.

Here’s how their rustic Southlands Barn wedding unfolded.

An Outdoor Ceremony with South Downs Views

Megan and Nathan married outside, and the views of the South Downs from the ceremony spot are spectacular.

As soon as they were married, the confetti came flying.

With the whole crowd gathered on the lawn, the group photo was a celebration all of its own.

Couple Portraits by the Lake

There’s a lovely lake in the grounds, which makes a beautiful, peaceful spot for your couple photos.

We kept things relaxed. A walk by the water and a turn on the tree swing. I love how much fun they had!

Meeting the Highland Cattle

If you love animals, you have to meet the Highland cattle at Southlands Barn.

Megan was brave enough to get up close, and the golden evening light made it one of my favourite photos of the day.

Speeches Full of Laughter

The speeches were brilliant, with the whole room in fits of laughter.

Cake and an Evening in the Barn

As the evening began, Megan and Nathan cut their cake inside the barn.

Then the dance floor filled up, with guests of every age joining in.

The Removable Sleeves Surprise

The biggest surprise of the day came on the dance floor. Megan’s dress had removable sleeves…

When I saw her bridesmaids ripping them off mid-dance, I thought they’d gone crazy!

Out came the glow sticks, and the party didn’t stop until the very end of the night.
